When I first opened my little online lingerie boutique, I thought I knew exactly what to expect.

I'd photograph beautiful silky satin knickers.

Pack pretty parcels.

Drink lots of tea.

Write a few listings.

Easy, right?

Well...

Not quite! 😂

Running Gloss Glam has taught me some wonderfully unexpected lessons, and today I thought I'd share a few of them with you.

I have a feeling some of these might sound very familiar...

😂 Lesson #1...

Nobody Ever Buys "Just One Pair"

It usually starts like this...

"I'm only having a quick look..."

Five minutes later...

"Well... while I'm here, I may as well get another colour!"

I completely understand because...

I've done exactly the same thing myself!

🩷 Lesson #2...

There Is No Such Thing As "Too Many Knickers"

I've asked this question in previous blogs...

Some people own ten pairs.

Some own fifty.

Some politely avoid answering altogether.

😂

Personally...

I don't think the number matters.

If they make you smile...

There's always room for one more.

💙 Lesson #3...

Men Love Silky Lingerie More Than Most People Realise

This one genuinely surprised me when I first started.

So many people assume my customers are mostly women.

The truth?

A large number are men.

Some buy gifts.

Some shop with their partners.

And many simply love wearing silky satin themselves.

And honestly...

I think that's wonderful.

Everyone should feel comfortable wearing what makes them happy.

Lingerie doesn't have rules.

Confidence doesn't have rules.

Happiness certainly doesn't have rules.

📸 Lesson #4...

Satin Has A Mind Of Its Own

If you've ever tried photographing silky satin...

You'll understand.

Move the light...

It shines.

Move the camera...

It creases.

Smooth the fabric...

Another crease appears somewhere else.

Sometimes I spend longer persuading satin to behave than actually taking the photograph!

☕ Lesson #5...

Tea Is Officially A Business Expense...

Well...

Maybe not officially.

But I genuinely don't think I could run my boutique without tea.

Every listing starts with tea.

Every parcel gets packed after tea.

Every blog begins with tea.

And if something goes wrong...

The kettle goes on again.

📦 Lesson #6...

Packing Orders Never Gets Boring

One of my favourite moments is wrapping each parcel.

I always imagine someone opening it.

Maybe they're treating themselves after a long week.

Maybe it's a birthday gift.

Maybe it's their very first pair of silky satin knickers.

Whatever the reason...

I hope they smile.

That's always my goal.

This Community Is The Best Surprise Of All

When I started Gloss Glam, I hoped people would buy my products.

What I never expected was finding such a lovely community.

Reading your comments.

Sharing laughs.

Writing daily blogs.

Creating Knickers of the Day.

Planning vlogs.

Talking about life.

You've become part of my daily routine, and I genuinely look forward to our chats.

🌸 The Biggest Lesson

If there's one thing this little boutique has taught me, it's this...

People don't buy beautiful lingerie simply because they need underwear.

They buy it because it makes them feel something.

Confident.

Comfortable.

Pretty.

Playful.

Happy.

And I think that's a wonderful reason.
