The Gloss Glam Autumn Survival Guide
Well, it's happened.
We've reached that special time of year when you wake up, stick one foot outside the duvet and immediately reconsider every decision you've ever made.
Autumn has arrived. Properly. ππ₯Ά
Apparently parts of the UK are waking up to some of the coldest temperatures of autumn so far, with the first frost arriving in some areas. The Sun
Which means one thing:
THE BIG JUMPERS ARE BACK.
And I'm not mad about it.
There's something wonderful about autumn. Oversized jumpers. Fluffy socks. Cups of tea you forgot you made three hours ago. Blankets permanently attached to your body.
And, of courseβ¦
Absolutely fabulous knickers underneath all of it. π
Because nobody said cosy season had to mean boring underwear.
π§Ά BIG JUMPER ON TOP. SATIN PARTY DOWNSTAIRS.
This is genuinely one of my favourite things about lingerie.
You can look like you've completely given up on life from the outside.
Hair in a questionable bun.
Oversized jumper.
Leggings.
Fluffy socks.
Possibly yesterday's mascara.
But underneath?
π Pink satin.
π Frills.
β¨ Bows.
πΈ Lace.
π Enough glamour to suggest you're going somewhere considerably more exciting than Tesco.
And nobody needs to know.
That's the beauty of it.
Secret glamour.
In fact, fashion this autumn is embracing texture and movement again. Ruffles, flowing details, romantic styling and playful clothes are appearing across current autumn fashion coverage. British Vogue
And frankly, Gloss Glam has been waiting for this moment.
We've been Team Ruffle since before Team Ruffle knew it was a team. π
π COQUETTE ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE
Bows.
Frills.
Florals.
Lace.
Romantic little details.
Basically everything I have an unhealthy inability to walk past without thinking:
βOooooohβ¦ I need to stock that.β
Current autumn fashion is leaning into whimsical dressing rather than everything being ultra-minimal and serious. Rich florals are also appearing across AW26 collections. British Vogue
My professional fashion analysis?
Excellent. More ridiculous knickers for everyone.
π AND THEN THERE'S HALLOWEENβ¦
We're only a few weeks away from Halloween, and spooky-season fashion is already everywhere.
Even mainstream fashion coverage is talking about witchy, romantic looks featuring things like lace, rich textures and dramatic silhouettes. InStyle
So naturally my brain immediately translates that into:
π€ Black satin knickers
π Halloween knickers
πΈοΈ Lace
β€οΈ Deep reds
π Dramatic bows
β¨ Anything slightly outrageous
I don't necessarily want to dress as a witch.
But do I want to own knickers that suggest I might have questionable supernatural abilities?
Absolutely.
π THE GREAT OCTOBER KNICKER DILEMMA
There is, however, one problem.
October mornings require approximately 47 layers of clothing.
So putting on beautiful silky knickers underneath all of that feels slightly ridiculous.
And yetβ¦
That's precisely why I love them.
Lingerie doesn't always have to be for somebody else.
Sometimes it's simply:
βThese make me happy.β
Nobody at the supermarket knows.
The delivery driver doesn't know.
The person next to you in traffic certainly doesn't know.
But YOU know you're wearing fabulous frilly satin knickers underneath an enormous jumper.
And somehow that makes life approximately 14% better.
This percentage has absolutely no scientific basis whatsoever. π
π THAT'S WHAT GLOSS GLAM IS REALLY ABOUT
When I started Gloss Glam, it wasn't because I thought everybody needed sensible beige underwear.
Quite the opposite.
I wanted colour.
I wanted satin.
I wanted frills.
I wanted bows.
I wanted knickers that make you open your underwear drawer and think:
βYES. THOSE ONES.β
Because sometimes the smallest things give us a little lift.
Especially when it's freezing outside, it's dark ridiculously early and you're already wondering whether putting the heating on counts as a major financial decision. π
So this autumn I'm officially declaring:
π THE GLOSS GLAM AUTUMN UNIFORM π
Oversized jumper.
Fluffy socks.
Hot drink.
Hair doing whatever it wants.
And underneathβ¦
the most unnecessarily fabulous pair of silky knickers you own.
Because cosy and glamorous are perfectly capable of coexisting.
And if your knickers have bows AND frills?
Even better. ππ
π QUESTION OF THE DAY
Now I need to knowβ¦
When it gets cold, are you:
A) Practical underwear all the way π§¦
B) Satin knickers regardless of temperature π
C) Whatever was at the top of the drawer π
D) Frills, bows and glamour β even if I'm wearing three jumpers π
Tell me because I have a feeling Team D might have found its natural habitat at Gloss Glam. π
