Well… it’s official.
Autumn has arrived. 🍁
The season where we all collectively pretend we’re excited about crisp mornings, pumpkin spice and beautiful golden leaves when, in reality, half of us are standing at the front door at 7am thinking:
“WHY IS IT DARK?!”
One minute we were complaining that it was too hot to sleep, and now I’m considering whether taking a hot water bottle to Tesco is socially acceptable.
Honestly, autumn has absolutely no chill.
☀️ Goodbye Summer… You Were Lovely for Those Three Days
British summer packed its little suitcase and disappeared approximately five minutes after it arrived.
The flip-flops have been abandoned.
The garden furniture is permanently wet.
And suddenly I'm doing that ridiculous thing where I leave the house wearing a jumper because it looks freezing… only to start sweating ten minutes later because apparently the sun has decided to make a surprise comeback.
Autumn dressing in the UK is basically:
T-shirt. Jumper. Coat. Remove coat. Remove jumper. Put jumper back on. Regret everything.

☕ My Personality Is Now 80% Hot Drinks
Something happens the second September turns into autumn.
Tea suddenly tastes better.
Coffee becomes essential.
Hot chocolate starts looking like a perfectly reasonable breakfast choice.
And I develop an overwhelming urge to buy mugs I absolutely do not need.
Preferably enormous ones.
Because apparently drinking tea from a mug the size of a small plant pot is self-care.
I don't make the rules.
🛋️ The Annual Hibernation Has Begun
Summer me:
"Let's go somewhere! Let's do things! Let's make plans!"
Autumn me:
"You want me to leave the house? At NIGHT??"
Once it's dark outside at teatime, my brain immediately decides the day is finished.
Pyjamas on.
Heating on.
Blanket acquired.
Phone on charge.
And unless the house is actually on fire, I'm probably not moving again.
And even then I'd need a minute to think about it.
👙 But Let's Discuss the Important Autumn Wardrobe…
Everyone talks about autumn jumpers.
Autumn boots.
Autumn coats.
But nobody discusses the most important layer.
The knickers.
Obviously. 😂
Because underneath that oversized jumper, leggings and coat that makes you look like you're preparing for an expedition to the Arctic…
you can still be wearing something ridiculously silky, frilly and fabulous.
Nobody needs to know.
That's half the fun.
There is something wonderfully rebellious about standing in the freezing cold waiting for the kettle to boil while secretly wearing the prettiest satin knickers imaginable.

🍁 Autumn Colours Are Basically Made for Satin
And can we appreciate the colours this time of year?
Deep burgundy.
Chocolate brown.
Champagne.
Bronze.
Forest green.
Black.
Cream.
Rich reds.
Suddenly everything looks luxurious.
Add satin to those colours and I'm basically finished.
Take my money.
Actually… considering I own the lingerie shop, apparently I'm taking my own money.
Excellent business strategy. 😂
🎃 And Then There's Halloween…
Autumn also means Halloween is creeping closer.
Which means pumpkins, sweets, ridiculous decorations and the perfectly legitimate excuse to buy underwear with pumpkins on it.
Because adulthood is difficult enough.
If wearing cheeky Halloween knickers makes you happy, wear the Halloween knickers.
Life is too short for boring underwear.
🍂 So Here's My Official Autumn Plan…
Drink unreasonable quantities of tea.
Complain that I'm cold.
Put the heating on.
Turn the heating off because I've remembered how much it costs.
Put another jumper on.
Buy things because they're described as cosy.
Light a candle and immediately feel like I've transformed the house into an autumn Pinterest board.
And, obviously…
Continue surrounding myself with ridiculous quantities of silky knickers. 😂
Because seasons may change…
but the satin obsession remains.
So grab your blanket, make yourself something warm, embrace your inner hibernating bear and enjoy the cosy season.
And remember:
You might be wearing three layers, fluffy socks and an oversized jumper…
but underneath it all, you can still be fabulous. 😉✨
